ZORNIK

Koen Buyse (Vocals & Guitars) Kristof Vanduren (Bass) Davy Deckmijn (Drums)

Koen Buyse, founder and leader of ZORNIK formed the band in 1999. Here's three guys for you that live and breathe music, unafraid to combine powerful music with an emotional and honest content and hell, why not, generous with a touch of drama and passion.

The solid live reputation of this three piece group (a tried and tested formula indeed) and (prolific) songwriting talent of front man Koen Buyse , the band made it to the final of "HUMO's Rock Rally", Belgium's most famous rock contest.

No, they did not win, but the band was spotted by Parlophone Belgium and MTC Management, so what more can one wish for?

The demo's they recorded in Brussels' studio BSB, with the artful help of engineer Marc François, turned out so powerful that rerecording the lot would have been a crime and this resulted in their first EP "Love Affair". Highly respected studio wizards "Cinérex" where found willing to do a superb remix from "Love Affair" ZORNIK's first EP with four great tracks was ready to hit the streets. This EP stayed in Belgium's leading alternative charts at Studio Brussel ,for more than 10 weeks since March 2001.

The second EP, "It's so unreal" was even more successful remaining in the charts for more than 20 weeks reaching number 3 as highest position.

Zornik has been playing at important summer festivals: Eurorock (Neerpelt), Marktrock (Leuven) and Pukkelpop (Hasselt). They have also given a business presentation at A2A in Amsterdam and are scheduled to appear at Eurosonic in Groningen.

On October 2001 they were rewarded the TMF Award for Most Promising Band of the year, whilst they were also nominated for best rockgroup, best single and best video.

Their CD-single "Hey Girl" was released early December and became the number one in the alternative charts, for six weeks!. Finally, their debut album "The Place Where You Will Find Us" was released in February 2002. This album rocketed to the no. 1 spot of the national salescharts and staid there for 2 weeks.

The new single "You Move Me" (release June 2002) jumped to the 10th place in the Flemish alternative charts after just two weeks! Zornik will move the crowd at several festivals this summer…
