Young Capone

February 4th, 2009 | With his lyrical credibility already firmly established in music industry circles, Young Capone re- emerges from the trenches of Atlanta with business on the agenda and his own record label driving his upcoming album release. Born, Rodriguez Smith, the East Atlanta bred rapper flooded the streets with his first single, “I’m Hot”, landing him his first recording deal with So So Def back in 2004. However, after a continuously delayed album debut, Young C chose to end the contractual relationship in 2007 and take some time to reflect. Having overcome the adversity of ending his recording deal, Young C combined street smarts with music ability and took his biggest step with his new album “Small Things To A Giant”.

Young Capone realized his talents at a very young age. As his words became lyrics on paper, his curiosity led to his interest in production. Instead of only delivering his rap craft, Capone learned the components of making a track and his creativity embarked him on a path aimed at setting him apart from the rest. The attention and excitement felt from the release of his first track sent deejays, the streets, and radio into a craze, all buzzing with respect for Capone’s sound. Even with the street’s acclaim, and the music industry’s knowledge of his lyrical swagger, Capone still continued to create his own access to the game.

Back on the scene as a free agent, Capone has been working to mold his talents and mature not only as an artist, but also as a businessman. He knows that this is a chance for outsiders and even people that know him best to see the side that has been hidden for so long. In 2008, he established his imprint, Trotti Entertainment, adding Music Executive to the growing list of his personal accomplishments. With a new structure consisting of a new management team, Capone now has the support he lacked early in his career. Although he’s setting out on his own, one truth that he knows will never change is the power of the streets. “Small Things To A Giant” takes it back to how he first gained his presence in the Rap Game – the streets.

The charismatic, street conscious 18 year old that once stood before the industry is now older and back with a new focus. As a young man and entrepreneur, Young Capone has more goals and this is his time to show and prove not only to the world, but also to himself. “Small Things To A Giant” features tracks that tell the story of old and new experiences that have contributed to Capone’s growth. This new project is more than an album or a highlight of a rapper and his career; it is a new start, a new beginning and an explanation as to why he is a GIANT!
