Watain was formed in 1998 with the goal of injecting repulsion and darkness into the Black metal scene, to show the misled masses of degenerated rebels and punks that the cult is not a place for them to thread upon. A 7" entitled The essence of Black Purity was released by Grim Rune Productions and got a generally good response in the underground circuits. After that Watain signed to Drakkar productions and released the much praised fullengthalbum Rabid Death's Curse, a monument of depraved deathworship and macabre devilry, and thereafter a split 7" with Diabolicum was unleashed by the french Spikekult Rekords (r.i.p). Right now the composing of new material is of highest priority, and the follow up to the previous fullength is estimated to be recorded in the spring of 2003. Meanwhile the band is focusing on liverituals across Europe, to further enhance the spirit of abomination in both band and beholder.
Watain is the knife in the stomach of each loving heretic blaspheming the name of the Cult and it's fundaments, one of the few remnants of the dangerous sickness that is the true Black metal scene. Be it known.
