Varsity Fanclub

First discovered through an audition held by Stonehall Entertainment (Phoenix Stone and Sybil Hall who were behind groups like the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync), Varsity Fanclub is made up of Jayk Purdy, Drew Ryan Scott, Bobby Edner, David Lei Brandt and Thomas Fiss.

Signed to Capitol records, Varsity Fanclub is getting ready to explode. Their first single, "Future Love" (written by the incredible Ryan "Alias" Tedder and his partner in crime Evan "Kidd" Bogart), has been added into full-time rotation on Radio Disney and was even heard last night on New Orleans' Top 40 radio powerhouse B97! They guys have already guest starred on the ABC Family Channel’s new series The Middleman, performing their song “Bad Habit.” They have also made select live appearances around the country as they prepare for their debut album to drop.

The Future Love music video was premiered on October 14, 2008 on Varsity Fanclub's official MySpace. It was posted on YouTube on October 16, 2008. The video shows the guys performing a digital concert for a group of girls. Each of their names appear. The video has a dance break half way in. Mandy Jiroux, best friend of Miley Cyrus appears in the video. The video has been viewed over 536,822 times on YouTube and 33,029 times on MySpace.

Jayk Purdy was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV and is the group’s resident prankster. The son of a professional singer, Jayk counts Prince and R&B singer Craig David among his favorite artists.

Drew Ryan Scott is from Las Vegas, NV. He is the group’s main songwriter, having co-written the tracks “Ghost,” “Looking for Love,” and “Complicated Girl” on VFC’s debut. The son of an Elvis impersonator, Drew is also a fan of the Beach Boys “for their amazing harmonies.”

Bobby Edner was born in Los Angeles, CA and is the youngest member of the group. He has been a professional actor since the age of 10. He has appeared in such television shows as ER, 7th Heaven, Charmed, and Veronica Mars, and starred in the film Spykids 3-D: Game Over. He also wrote and performed the end-title song, “Heartdrive,” on the movie’s soundtrack. He loves pop/r&b and cites Snow Patrol, Switchfoot, Black Eyed Peas and Blue October as some of his favorite artists.

David Lei Brandt is from Evansville, IN. Since the age of 16, he has been travelling around the country to teach dance. He has also made appearances in movies and commercials. The son of a Broadway stage director and professional singer, David’s idol is Michael Jackson.

Thomas Fiss is from San Diego, CA. He began playing open mic nights at the age of 16. He plays the guitar, bass, drums and piano. Thomas appeared on Broadway in The Full Monty at age 13.

Their self-titled debut album, 'Varsity Fanclub' is set to be released on January 13 2009.
