Valley Of Chrome is a quintet band, currently composed of five unusual musicians of today’s local music scene. Rogel aka “axl prose” is the band’s vocalists and lyricist. Jethro or “sir Jet” plays the guitars and Tatel “kuya Tatel” who deals with the same instruments. The band’s bassist is “dj Bassick” or goodtime jordy and Voltaire “Voltaire productions” pounds the drums. Former members include Jericho “vocals” (2000-2001), Jervee “guitars” (2000-2002) and Kimmy “drums” (2000-2003).
The band started playing in college. Originated from Los Baños, Laguna, the band was formed on July 2000. The group was also known by its name “Batch 98”. Members bonded with same interest, desire and passion in playing decided to form a band whose primary goal and meaning of existence is to make and share music. In the process, they have created their own signature music of melodic hardcore.
On December 2000, the body named the group as the Valley Of Chrome and did its first gig in San Pablo, Laguna. As asked why Valley Of Chrome, “Because it is one of the songs from the Skulls and Bones album of Cypress Hill.
Though many would dismiss their sound as a fusion of new and old musical styles, these open-minded individuals accepted criticisms and praise as the play went on. Not to be forgotten, the changes are there ever present. From hardcore, they deviated into metalcore and some line-up changes.
Until then, they have proven that their music is a different aural collage that does not only stirred the senses but the emotions as well. Their sound and ever energetic performances enabled them to gather huge followers wherever they play gigs across the nation. They played as if it is their first, excited and new and as the last gig they were going to play.
The band released CD EP entitled Beyond Definition on 2001 and Transparent on the following year. Tirelessly, the band recorded another EP on 2003 dubbed as Anthems for Sellout Youth. The band was included in the Pulp Summer Slam 3 Compilation of the same year.
At last, on 2004, Valley Of Chrome released their debut full-length album entitled Love & Devotion. The album showcases the importance of heaviness and irrefutable lyrics with melody and musicianship that one can never regret. On the tally of Philippine Star’s “Top 20 Local Albums of 2004”, the album reached number 18.
Four years have passed; Valley Of Chrome surpassed their own expectations that their music has taken them to where they are now. Their sophomore album under Galaxy Records was released on 2007. Dubbed as Never The Lifeless, the album boasts 10 tracks.
Valley Of Chrome is one hard working band, steadfast to its pinoy rock and conquered the music scene by storm, whatever the musical climate may be.
