Formed in 1997, Tuuli is bassist Claire Blake, guitarist Dawn Mandarino, guitarist/vocalist Jenny MacIsaac and drummer Jen Foster. Tuuli radiate pop creativity with a punk rock attitude, bringing back the sounds and image of pioneering bands like The Runaways, The Go-Go's, The Clash and the Ramones, while also playing homage to 90's acts such as Hole, Veruca Salt and Garbage.
No strangers to the road, Tuuli's last tour was their third US one, a coast to coast all girl package with The Donnas and Bratmobile. They played to packed houses in virtually every city, including two sold out nights in LA, a SXSW showcase in Austin where they were interviewed by VH1, and finished by headlining the Chart Magazine/CBC Radiosonic CMW Saturday night finale in their hometown, Toronto.
Since the band started at a young age, Tuuli has had to prove themselves as musicians. They've accomplished this task and are being taken very seriously, having been the house band for Comedy Centrals' "Premium Blend", opened for the likes of Cheap Trick, and having their songs featured on BBC Radio 1, K-ROCK in Los Angeles, CFOX, KXLU, CBC, and hundreds of college radio stations. Music critics have come out lavishing them with praise for their creativity and musicality, resulting in features in such publications as Now Magazine, LA Times, Toronto Star and many others.
Tuuli's EP "Rockstar Potential" on the Sympathy For The Record Industry label sold briskly at retail and at the band's shows. Produced by Rob Sanzo, the EP features such standout tracks as "Who's The Fool Now?", "Tough Guys", and a cover of The Vibrators' "Baby Baby". Tuuli spent the first half of 2001 writing and recording their debut full-length CD Here We Go, with Producer Neill King, which is set for release on April 23rd on Linus Entertainment label, distributed in Canada by Warner Music. The first set-up video is for Who's The Fool Now? which received light rotation at Muchmusic. The first radio/video single "It's Over" has been added at most major reporters and received medium rotation at Muchmusic and Medium at MuchLoud. A spring /summer tour is scheduled which will see Tuuli perform right across Canada.
