It’s theAlive and Well HardCore Festival (Aug. 1998). Murphy’s Law is halfway through their set when they stop everything, "A couple of friends of ours are going to play a song".” Four high school kids walk out in front of 10,000 wide-eyed stares. They break out one song, thousands of people go nuts. A major hardcore contender was born.
The band began on March of 1998 by Dan (Drums) and Tyler (Vocals) whom coincidentally are the youngest people in the band @ 15 years of age. Since then the roster has risen by two in order to complete their solid four piece ensemble. Rick (Bass) was brought on to originally play guitar until Pete (Guitar) was introduced into the band, and so the switch was made. Influences by such bands as Suicidal Tendencies, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today and Insted bring about some of the best Old School HardCore that the scene has been exposed to in quite some time. The lyrics which are patiently grouped, put together personal thoughts and situations that kids in the hardcore, punk, surf, and skate scenes can relate to.
Veterans to the Jersey Shore, these young and bright-eyed musicians have been hitting the coast of New Jersey with as much ferocity as the North Easterly storms that bombard the state of which they are native to. The repeated pounding that they have put on the shore have gotten them shows with acts such as Underdog, OS101, Murphy Law and 7 Seconds. One demo was released and successfully overtaken the scene. After seeing the success of the demo, the band agreed to take themselves to the next level and quickly positioned themselves to record an EP. By recording with Tom Capone (Quicksand, Bold, Beyond, Shelter), their debut 7” is sure to be eaten up by the scene and industry.
Behold the new rising sons of hardcore, be wary and don’t forget to watch the weather or your town may be the next site of destruction for this hurricane.
