Thy Primordial

Thy Primordial was formed in 1994 and short there after the birth the band entered the studio to record the first demo. The debut demo "De Mörka Makters Alla" was released in March 1995. Soon after its release, a one album agreement was reached with Gothic Records (US). The album "Under iskall Trollmåne" was conceived and scheduled for release in February 1996. Even though the album was delayed for years Thy Primordial continued their musical pursuits with stronger conviction and focus.

Not to satisfide with the current label Thy Primordial recorded a promotional tape called "Svart Gryning" during the winter 95 - 96, in order to establish a better deal. It gained interest from several labels and a contractual agreement was eventually established with Pulverised Records in July 1996. Meanwhile interest from Paranoia Syndrome Production reached the band. To promote the band they entered the studio and recorded 4 new songs for them which was further released as a 7" EP in August 1996 by Paranoia Syndrome.

Determined to record their second - debut- album Thy Primordial entered the studio in September the same year. Laid on tape was the "Where Only The Seasons Mark The Paths Of Time" album. This time professionally recorded at Rolab Music Studio, Sweden. Ensuring a release of the highest quality, this CD was further re-mastered with state of the art 20 Bit CD mastering technology. Making it the first ever underground release to benefit from 20 Bit technology.

10 tracks of hellish belligerent Black Metal played with uncompromising technicality and melody released in full color jewel case format.

After the recording of the well responsed album "Where Only the Seasons Mark the Paths of Time" Thy Primordial started to work on new material for their next strike to come. The material turned out to be even more intensive and harsh yet with the sense of combining the extreme with charged atmosphere and melody.

One year past and in august 1997 it was time to yet again enter the studio dungeons, this time around, at Sunlight Studio, Stockholm, Sweden. Alongside with Fred Estby and Tomas Skogsberg, Thy Primordial recorded full-length number three "At the World of Untrodden Wonder" which then surely was their most hellish material shown to public.

The long delayed as well as awaited "Under iskall trollmane" album was released by Gothic Records in August -98.

The release of this album came as a surprise for both the band and the current label. Though, as this production came out fairly late it filled its purpose as the actual debut album, both in the discography as in the confused scene. Due to this release Pulverised decided to put "At the World of Untrodden Wonder" on ice for awhile, to avoid misunderstandings from the metal scene. Beside the release of this forgotten album, Thy Primordial worked hard on material for further actions of the band, more focused than ever before.

"At The world of Untrodden Wonder" was released in April -99, an all out professional release with 18 page booklet, jewel case and of course the skills of the band. Alongside also the T-shirt/Longsleeve "To Ruin and Decay" was released.

Still Thy Primordial kept working on new material for the upcoming release. Finally in August -99 they once again entered Sunlight studio. This time to record the album entitled "The Heresy of an Age of Reason". 5 weeks was spent to record the 8 new songs and spawned was the, without doubts, strongest Thy Primordial material made yet. With a heavier production and a much more worked through song structure the band once again improved their strength and their hellish musical attributes.

The recording was mastered at Polar Studios before the delivery to Pulverised records and furthermore this production contains professionally executed layout and so forth, all in all a carefully prepared release. The preperation for the release of "The heresy of an age of reason" started in April.

And Finally, in the end of june the album saw the dark of the night. After the release of "The Heresy of an Age of reason" The band faced the first line- up change since the start. N. Nilsson decided to leave the band.

The Release of "The Heresy of an age of reason" also meant that the three album agreement with Pulverised was fulfilled. Promotional package was then sent to labels world wide and a handful of offers returned. In the end there was two labels to chose between.

In August -00 Thy Primordial declaired that the band signed up for two albums on Blackend/PHD (UK) Meanwhile the band created songs for yet another album. After a year of hard work, new material and studio booked there was yet again a new album to be put on tape, "The Crowning Carnage"

This time entering Abyss Studios, Sweden with Tommy Tägtgren as engineer. Nine new songs was recorded during a two week period in August -01, later mastered at Turna Audio, UK. This album follow the old patterns but does also show a more technical and varried side of the band never shown before. In March -02 the ultra controlled black/death metal release "The Crowning Carnage" was laid upon the earth through Blackend / Plastic Head Records. And heads were severed...

With almost ten years behind, the band still kept working but things change. The bond between vocalist Isidor and the other members began to untie. So in early 2003 Thy Primordial took the hard decision to walk separate ways with Isidor due to a lack of interest etc. A permanent replacement was found at the same time and Nicke Holstenson (former vocalist of Swedish deathsters Nominon) was put to place in the line-up. A pre-production was recorded with fresh material and changes were made, determined to set a new standard within the band they once again booked Abyss Studios and producer T. Tägtgren. This time in two different sessions, first out drum recordings in june then followed up with all the rest in August -03. And this recording is an improvement by all means, a trademark of the past decade shown through "Pestilence upon Mankind"...
