Thomas Fersen

Thomas Fersen was born on January 4, 1963 in Paris, France. In his teens, he started playing jazz guitar & was a member of 2 punk bands, UU & Figure Of Fun. In the early 80's, he got his Baccalauréat & started studying electronics. In 1986, he found his stage name : his first name came from the footballer Thomas Boyd & his last name came from Hans-Axel de Fersen, Marie-Antoinette's Swedish lover. The newly-named Thomas travelled to South America & came back to Paris. In 1988, he met Vincent Frèrebeau, Vogue's artistic director, & recorded 2 singles, "Ton Héros Jane" (1988) & "Le Peuple De La Nuit" (1990). In 1993, Thomas signed to Warner, released his first album Le Bal Des Oiseaux & received a Victoire De La Musique for "Album Revelation" the following year. On France's Music Day in 2003, French Culture Minister Jean-Jacques Aillagon decorated Thomas "Chevalier Des Arts Et Des Lettres". Tender, romantic, ironic & dreamer, the singer was more & more appreciated by the audience for every album release. Little seen on TV but very present on stage, Thomas is one of the most appreciated French singers.
