Rarely does one find a band in any genre with that rare blend of passion, energy, animation and spirit. Armed with a pawnshop's worth of acoustic musical instruments, The Town Pants have performed their own brand of West Coast Celtic music at over 1500 shows since their inception.
The band is based in British Columbia, although they are certainly not held to within its limits. Their reputation as a strong live act continues to grow, as does their audience. The band’s rigorous touring schedule over the last couple of years has had them on the road extensively, with headlining performances at many festivals and clubs across Canada, the U.S. and most recently, their 5th tour of Northern Europe. Still a favorite at home in Canada, the release of their 2nd CD earned the band a nomination for “Favorite National Celtic/Traditional Act” in the Georgia Straight Music Awards. On top of the group's two previous independent releases, he band's latest CD entitled, “Weight of Words”, shows no loss of enthusiasm and spirit of wit and rebellion that has gained them fans from Ottawa to Oslo. The band's unique mix of music and song shows just how far the group has come from its small Irish pub roots, and they are lauded as one of the most original and entertaining live acts currently on the Celtic roots scene.
