Graduate was formed in 1979 in Bath. The name came from the fact that they used to open gigs with a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson", which was featured in the movie The Graduate. The group consisted of John Baker, guitar and vocals; Steve Buck, keyboards and flutist; Andy Marsden, drums; Roland Orzabal, guitar and keyboards; and Curt Smith, bass and synthesizers. Roland and Curt went on to form Tears for Fears.
