The Black Crowes

FORMED: 1984, Atlanta, GA

Lions is The Black Crowes? 6th studio LP and their debut for V2 Records, with whom they signed last summer. Lions is produced by the legendary Don Was, (of Was Not Was fame), a first for the band. All songs are written by brothers Rich and Chris Robinson.

The 13 tracks on Lions are as follows?

Midnight From The Inside Out / Lickin? / Come On / No Use Lyin? / Losin? My Mind / Ozone Mama / Greasy Grass River / Soul Singin? / Miracle To Me / Young Man Old Man / Cosmic Friend / Cypress Tree / Lay It All On Me

Lions was recorded in the unlikely location of an old Yiddish musical theatre on New York?s Lower East Side, which has been converted into a recording studio. It?s an environment that suited the newly New York based band well. The sessions took place on the theatre?s stage where the remarkable acoustics brought a live immediacy and warmth to the songs.

The Black Crowes, who have been called "The most rock ?n? roll rock ?n? roll band in the world", have achieved worldwide sales exceeding 15 million LPs and vast critical acclaim. Most recently they performed with Jimmy Page, playing together on stage the songs of Led Zeppelin and The Black Crowes, in addition to a handful of vintage blues numbers. The tour, hailed as a historic collaboration, is captured on last year's gold-certified album, Jimmy Page And The Black Crowes Live At The Greek.

On Lions, The Black Crowes don?t back down from their original mission: to create rock 'n' roll that is both fierce and genuine. By further challenging themselves both sonically and musically, they?ve come up with their most distinguished album yet.

The Black Crowes have recently confirmed dates for what is certain to be the definitive rock experience of 2001: a co-headlining American tour with Oasis. The Tour Of Brotherly Love kicks off in Las Vegas on May 11 and finishes in New York on June 7th. The shows will feature an opening act (tbc), followed by Oasis, before The Black Crowes close the show.
