Spitfire

Are you a hardcore christian? If so, then you must experience Spitfire. This is one christian brigade that is fuckin' pissed. Man, these dudes are real aggressive motherfuckers!! At first, I thought there were satanic because the music was so intense and I saw a glimpse of the words J.C. in the lyric sheet, so I assumed they were in league with the horned one. But I also had this gut feeling that I was wrong...the hell I was. Spitfire is part of the big group of new bands who are pushing the limits of extreme music today. I hear influences of hardcore, death metal and grindcore in their blistering sound. Harsh is the best word to describe the attack. They use discordant soundscapes with oddball drum patterns and tortured screams of anguish. This is one of those albums that are hard to grasp in the beginning because everything is so complicated (I love these kinds of albums). Varied guitar noises and effects are littered all over the cd and the song arrangements are very complex structures. Visually, the packaging of the album is quite disturbing too, like the music representing it. The cover features a side view x-ray of a skull and there are these white matches (for fire) below with the band's name written on it. The inner sleeve comes with lyrics and other unusual images with random numbers everywhere. Makes you feel like you're in the movie Se7en.

Ten tracks are featured with two instrumentals. The first instrumental is a beautiful melodic piece with a great climax and the other one is a fucked up remix called "DJ Jazzy Steve", which also closes the album. By the likes of their music and lyrics, this is one serious band. They are so angry that people are being turned against christ, who is their savior of course. Although it's just ironic and kinda funny because they claim on the track "Marasmus", "if there is peace, then I want peace" but they play in this totally chaotic form of musical savagery. Talk about peace of mind.
