LINE UP Lee Hollis (vocals), Roger Ingenthon (guitar), Frank Rahm (guitar), Markus Weilmann (bass), Matthias Gotte (drums)
A much favoured Kaiserlauten Punk act that infused their sound with plenty of American Crossover and Thrash influences. Founded in 1980 as ERADICATION the band, fronted by American singer Lee Hollis, adopted the title of SPERMBIRDS in 1982. The remainder of the group comprised of guitarists Roger Ingenthon and Frank ‘Cream’ Rahm, bass player Markus ‘While Man’ Weilmann and drummer Matthias Gotte. First product would be a split album with WALTER 11.
The band soon pulled in a ready audience and mounting record sales but Hollis would quit during 1993 following recording of the ‘Joe’ album, later founding STEAKKNIFE. The SPERMBIRDS drafted another American, Ken Haus, as replacement but the group would ultimately fold in 1996.
Gotte went on to KICK JONESES whilst Rahm emerged with SUPER GOUGE.
The SPERMBIRDS would reunite with Hollis during 1999 for a series of 5 nostalgia concerts.
