Southern Storm was founded in December 1998 by Dario Havel and Damir Sinanovic former members of Postmortem. Short after, they were joined by Emir Hot, who recently left Neon Knights. Adnan Omerovic former Grotesk bass guitarist was the next edition, but he left after a year and he was replaced by Mario Vilusic from Neon Knights. In about three month's, they composed eight songs and went into the studio to record the instrumentals. An accidental meeting with Elvis Garagic (vocalist of Dugi Put) resulted in recording the vocal parts for the songs, and since Elvis is part of Southern Storm. Recently Alen Dzambic (keyboards) joined the band.
The album with eight songs in English was already recorded in Tuzla and carries the name 1999. Recently in the Pavarotti Center (Mostar), they recorded four more songs in Bosnian, which will also be on the album. The songs in Bosnian were recorded, because of demand, of the Bosnian market. A video for one of these songs will be aired soon.
Southern Storm had many concerts throughout Bosnia. Every time the concerts were a successes and their fan numbers are growing day by day. Their style can be described as melodic heavy rock with progressive and ethnic motives. Their highest accomplishment till now has been the winners of the Heineken Bosnian Rock Festival in 2001, with 42 bands competing.
Southern Storm's major plans are to tour Europe.
