Solitude Aeternus was formed under the name of only Solitude in 1987 by the frontman and guitarist John Perez. They played shows around the Dallas area in Texas before releasing their debut album "Into The Depths Of Sorrow" in 1991. Their original label King Classic was unfortunately forced to end their activities soon after the release but Solitude was offered a new deal with Roadrunner Records. Their third album "Through the Darkest Hour" gave them the chance to tour with the legendary Mercyful Fate, one of the most important influences on the band. Their sixth album was first planned to be recorded in March 2001 but due to Wolf's shoulder injury and Perez being occupied as a tour manager for Electric Wizard and Warhorse it has been postponed to some time between June and July. You can also catch the band doing a cover of Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name" on A Call To Irons: A Tribute To Iron Maiden and they are on Legend of a Madman: A Tribute to Ozzy Osborne and the compilation album Unebrochen Various Artist Sampler as well as the brand new release of the Ronnie Dio tribute "Holy Dio". And, I am not exactly sure of the title but I believe the band also appears on a recent Judas Priest tribute release...I will find the details soon. Robert , Wolf and Steve have joined with James Martin to create Concept of God. I have seen CoG live at Sanctuary in Arlington and while having developed a unique sound that is the band holds up to the expectations of SA fans. Point is...Concept of God kicks ass! Rumors are that the band hopes to record soon. Check out the Concept of God website through my links page.. Lyle's new band Ghoultown is straight from the Twilight Zone! I really didn't know what to think about it at first and all I can say is that I still don't know what to think about it, but I can't get enough. Check out Ghoultown MP3's at the official Ghoultown site at www.ghoultown.com.
