Slingshot 57 is a rawkn' Christian rock band out of Lincoln, IL. They were founded on Nov. 1st , 1999 by Benjamin Woods, Kirk Bolen, Ross Drennan, Matt Harris, and last but not least Gabe Rutledge. A bunch of crazy college students at Lincoln Christian College (http://www.lccs.edu ) these guys are creating a fervor among Christian rock fans in the Land of Lincoln. Their sound is kinda like Bleach and Plankeye or the Foo Fighters for you secular music fans, but yet distinctly their own rock/alternative sound. Slingshot has already released two independent CD's of groovy music ( A four song demo and a brand spankn' new eight song CD.) The first CD (Three Days in Greenville) was really great, although their new CD(Five Smooth Stones) is incredible! With catchy rock/pop/alt. songs these guys make music that gets stuck in your head but in the same token is really deep. All the songs are stellar and include "Alright"(Ben, I still remember you telling me to listen to it at camp. Whenever I hear that song I think of what a cool guy ya are), "Longsleeves", "Another Go Around", Crystal's Song","Never Alone", "Throw That Fist My Way", and "Closer" (Oh, Wait, That's the entire album! haha)And unlike all those boy bands ,all of their music is written by a band member. And the music is solid and backs up great lyrics which reflect their love for GOD but also are inspiring. Not only do they rock, but they are extremely nice . Always friendly, they will go the distance for their growing number of fans. Also, these guys are on fire for the Lord. They are the real deal, completely sold out for God.
But don't take my word for it. Check these guys out at http://www.slingshot57.com. You'll see pics, bios, merch, news, concert dates, and more. It is an unbelievably great site! And I will definitely recommend seeing them live. You will be blown away! They R-O-C-K!!! But don't take your grandma. Not because they are so hardcore, although they can get pretty loud, but because your grandma might like these cute, young whippersnappers and become a bigger fan than you. ( HeeHee )
