Shanice Wilson was raised in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.

She began singing on stage with her mother Crystal and her aunt Penni, who now jointly oversee her career.

Afterwards, she found her way into the modelling industry, appearing in television commercials, including one with Ella Fitzgerald, and performing in local musicals before reaching her teens.

One particular performance in 'Get Happy' led to her first recording contract when she was just 11 years old, with A & M Records.

By 1990 she had been signed to Motown Records by president Jheryl Busby.

Partnered with producer Narada Michael Walden, her album, 'Inner Child', featured the international hit single 'I Love Your Smile'.

Two other US Top 10 hits were also featured, 'Silent Prayer' (accompanied by labelmate Johnny Gill) and 'I'm Crying'.

She was Nominated for a Grammy as Best R & B Female Vocalist in her own country and awarded the Golden Lion Award as Best International Artist in Germany

Meanwhile, she found time to collaborate with Kenny Loggins on his 'Live From The Redwoods' album and contributed to three film soundtracks, 'Beverley Hills 90210' (which gave her another Top 5 US hit with 'Saving Forever For You'), the Eddie Murphy film 'Boomerang' ('Don't Wanna Love You') and 'Meteor Man' (which included her US R & B number 1 'It's For You').

'21 Ways ... To Grow', was a more mature offering and included the popular 'Turn Down The Lights'.

It featured another hit single in 'I Like', with remixes from Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez, while the album's production team included Jermaine Dupri (Kris Kross, Xscape) and Chris Stokes.

She duetted with Jon Secada in 1995 on 'If I Never Knew You' from the highly successful Disney movie 'Pocahontas'.

1999 saw the release of 'Shanice' on the LaFace Record label.

Shanice can also be heard on the Kenny Lattimore album 'Weekend', duetting on the track 'Can You Feel Me?'
