AWKWARD ANSWERS TO EQUALLY AWKWARD QUESTIONS The Reason FAQ
WHY THE HELL DID YOU GUYS CHANGE YOUR NAME? I think we've pretty much explained it enough already. There are links at the top of the page to read the official announcement, as well as an in-depth interview. That pretty much explains it all.
BUT WHY 'THE REASON', THOUGH? After having a name that you have to explain everytime you mention it to anyone for nearly seven years, when the time comes to change the name you just want something simple and easy. Something that you don't need to really explain to anyone. The real story is that most of our new songs' topics revolve around dealing with other people, human interaction, and the way we think. Dealing with people who can't think properly or 'reason' (read the lyrics). We feel that in order to have a true, honest encounter with a person both people involved have to be able to apply logic and reason to their train of thought. We are the reason.
THAT IS SO DUMB. YOUR NAME SUCKS. You know something? You suck. We like it and we don't really care. If you liked us when our name was 'sewing with nancie' (worst name ever), then this shouldn't even phase you. If you are that narrow minded though, to stop listening to a band just because they changed their name, then whatever. Have a good life. We're going to continue to tour and record and write songs no matter what you say, and that is that.
ARE YOU GUYS STILL GOING TO BE SELLING SWN MERCH AT YOUR SHOWS? No...we managed to run out of all SWN merch just before the name change took place. As for the 'take a look at yourself' CD, I don't think we'll be selling that anymore, or at least for a while. You can still order them off the FASTMUSIC WEBSITE for the time being.
I HAVE A SWN T-SHIRT. CAN I GET A DEAL ON A REASON SHIRT? Yes, yes you can, actually. We will have select shirts at our table, and if you come to any show on the tour wearing a SWN shirt, you can get a new The Reason shirt for only $10 (as opposed to $15). The merch and their prices are listed on the right side so you can get a better idea of what we have this time around...
ARE YOU GUYS STILL ON FASTMUSIC? No, we are technically an unsigned band at the moment. Dwayne from Lonely Tree records is a good friend and all he is doing is helping us out financially with the CD, and putting it out for us. We are not signed to Lonely Tree records, though. We do have plans to record a full length in the summer, and as of now it is going to be produced by Tom from BIGWIG, we just can't say how the CD is coming out at this moment in time. We have so many new songs right now that we are looking forward to.
ARE YOU GUYS STILL GOING TO BE PLAYING SOME SWN SONGS AT YOUR SHOWS? Yes, very much so. The songs that we are playing on this tour include most of the EP, as well as FAKE GIRL, DOWNSVIEW, ON YOUR MARK, ONE TIME USE, LEAVE TODAY, and SILENCE IS BLISS. Those songs will stay. Fake Girl is getting retired on this tour. If its a special show, however, you may be able to get us to play an older SWN song if you ask really nice. No Dave Stieb though, god forbid.
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE NEW CD? We recorded this stuff in late December with Greg Taylor from Jersey. We feel it's the best sounding stuff we've ever put out. It has lots of guest appearances. Greg and Sean from Jersey sing on alot of the songs, and Brad from Somehow Hollow and former Grade plays guitar on a track as well. Ronson even comes out of nowhere with some piano. The cover art was drawn by Carol Nelan, Cubby's sister, and overall we stand behind this EP 150%. Pick it up if you can...
HOW COME YOU GUYS AREN'T PLAYING IN MY CITY ON YOUR TOUR? Being from Ontario, its hard to revolve a Canadian tour around solely Ontario dates. When we go on a big long tour like this, we like to play as many dates away from Ontario as we can. We feel this is to our benefit, for when we are home from tour we can do close-by Ontario shows on weekends. We aren't neglecting anyone. It's called planning. We plan do do another cross canada, and an eastcoast canada and USA tour before the summer begins. Its all up from there.
DO YOU HAVE DIRECTIONS TO ANY OF THE SHOWS? We do have directions and answers to some of the questions about the shows. We also don't have many places to sleep while on tour. WHEN THE SHIT WILL THE NEW WEBSITE BE UP? As explained earlier, these things take time, my friend. This site will have to do for now. While we are on tour, our web person will continue to build the new site and it likely will be up a week or 2 after we get home. Until then, we have continued the SWN Guestbook on here, and we also have a tour diary for your enjoyment.
