Ever since he won a Toronto MC contest with his first single, "Hate Runs Deep," Saukrates has been hailed as the future of Canadian hip-hop. In 1995, he released the Brick House EP on Slammin' records. It won critical acclaim for the maturity it showed, both lyrically and vocally, from the then-18-year-old Saukrates.
