There is an art to mixing power with chords, and the guys from Revelation Theory are masters of their medium. Offering a potent blend of hard and heavy guitar rock, forceful and impassioned vocals, and a muscular and melodic rhythm section, this four-piece infuses enough energy and honesty in their music to power their home city of New York.
Brought together by a shared passion, Rich, Julien and Dave met while experimenting with music during their college days in Massachusetts. Shortly after, the three moved to NY to chase a lifelong dream of creating music together and teamed up with music production/management company, Idol Roc Entertainment. The bands search for a final piece came to an abrupt end after witnessing a performance by Matty, a bassist/vocalist, who at the time was a vocal major at NYU and fronting a Philadelphia rock band. With Matty's prowess on the bass matching his vocals he became the perfect compliment to round out the band and Revelation Theory was born.
Revelation Theory spent the next year slugging it out on couches and sofas in different friends' homes, while developing and recording their self titled EP. After releasing it independently the band hit the road and built their fan-base organically, igniting stages city after city, and building a loud industry buzz.
In early 2005, the bands commitment to artist development began paying off with their first headlining stint on the "Girls Gone Wild Rocks America" tour which hit over 30 cities in eight weeks, playing to more than 15,000 people. After recognizing the current climate of the music industry, Revelation Theory looked for a label partner that would provide an extension of the grass-roots philosophy they have taken in developing their career. Idol Roc then teamed up with ON Entertainment and Century Media owner/founder Robert Kampf to sign the band to his new venture Element Records (distributed by EMI) and release Revelation Theory's debut album, TRUTH IS CURRENCY, produced by Grammy winner Paul Ebersold (Saliva, 3 Doors Down).
Soon, music fans and radio stations across the country tapped into the band's infectious energy and intense songwriting, and before long, stations such as Dallas, TX's KDGE and Tampa, FL’s WXTB took up the charge by scheduling them on radio festivals for Fall 2005, alongside bands of such caliber as Audioslave, Seether, Fall Out Boy, Breaking Benjamin, and Saliva.
Evoking strong emotions and feelings into their music was the modus operandi of Revelation Theory in the studio. With Rich's powerful voice brings with it an intensity that matches the band's aggressive musicianship. Pouring every ounce of love and passion in their performance, songs like the pounding "After the Rain", the tender ballad "Selfish and Cold", the helpless "Leaving It up to You", and the fierce and immediate first single and video "Slowburn", Truth is Currency is bursting at the seams with soulful, raw rock. The single is currently building a great radio story on Active Rock charts and the video is getting great rotation on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball.
Revelation Theory has been together for only three years and has packed all of this into that short period of time. Imagine what they can do from this point forward.
