Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, just minutes from the famous Paris Island Marine Corps base, and only a few miles from the world's famous resort area, Hilton Head Island, Quadeer Shakur grew up the oldest of six siblings. With a mom born on massive farmland to a huge family in Walterboro, South Carolina, Quadeer has never strayed from his southern roots. Quadeer became facsinated with Hip-Hop at age 15 while living in Brooklyn, New York. His trips to the Brooklyn Library up the street from his home on President Street became a part of his weekly routine at developing his craft as a rhyme writer.
Quadeer would check out all of the rhyme books and books on songwriting, and merge the traditional style of writing with the unorthodox. An avid reader and student of philosophy, Quadeer leans toward songs that have depth, meaning and substance rather than the same old rhyme-for-rhyme jargon that many rappers seem to exhibit. Quadeer Shakur credits his style and penchant for reality rhymes to the great Melle Mel of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 fame. An activist and youth mentor, Quadeer Shakur is also very much involved in his community in Roxbury, Massachusetts where his family migrated to Orchard Park Housing Projects and lived alongside Bobby Brown and New Edition.
