Psychopunch The band started 1998 by Joey,JM,Mumbles and Hojan.Former members of cult punk band T.S.T and Wild Bunch. After various problems and songwriting the band finally found the sound they wanted and got a name. Psychopunch (VST) VST meaning Vasteras, one of sweden's major industrial towns. Summer and fall of '98 was all rehearsing and writing new material. Influences are Motorhead,Ramones,GBH,Social Distortion,Stooges,The Wildhearts ,Sex Pistols etc etc.
Psychopunch got in contact with Pelle Saether at Studio Underground. The session was to be a full-length album. The recording session being three weekends in early '99. Ten songs were recorded and mixed and the result was truly mindblowing. The work was sent to White Jazz Records and a contract was soon signed.The album "We Are Just As Welcome As Holy Water In Satan's Drink" was released by White Jazz in early November –99.
The album "We Are Just As Welcome…......" was voted Nr.1 in Visions soundcheck/Loud division. The first European tour was to be set in April/May 2000. Directly when the band came home from the tour they drove to the studio to set up the gear and had one day off and then started the recording of the new album "Bursting Out Of Chucky's Town"! When "Bursting Out Of……" was released drummer Hojan decided to leave the band due to personal reasons.
The band found a new drummer ,Peppe, from old Swedish Cult Deathmetal band Mourning Sign and the band became an even more lethal four-piece than ever! The release of the new album was followed by highly appreciated European tour and really good critics from all over the world for the new album. 9 in Visions , 12 in Heavy Oder Was?! , 4/5 in Kerrang "You wont be seeing Psychopunch on MTV any time this century because they positively stink of delicious delinquency and full-blooded, unreconstructed,aural bleeding anarchy." 9/10 in Metal Hammer "Pure punk rawk,plain and simple. It's fast,energetic,raw and, oh yeah......it's fucking excellent."
To name a few! Psychopunch recorded the last show of the tour (spring 2001) at the Wild At Heart in Berlin, six of the livetracks and six new studiotracks and they had a new album, "Original Scandinavian Superdudes"! Released September 2001. The studiotracks were recorded just before a short tour in Spain together with The Peepshows.The songs were mixed while the tour was running. The new album was promoted on a new tour together with Hellride called "The Original Scandinavian Superdudes Tour"!
