Prong

Prong formed in June of 1986

All members of Prong had a collaborative background in the New York underground music scene.

Ted Parsons was a former member of The Swans. Tommy Victor performed with various members of Live Skull, The Swans, and the Misfits in different incarnations.

Mike Kirkland was a former member of Damage.

After Mike's Departure in 1990, Troy Gregory took over on Bass. There was later a subsequent swapping of bass players, when Troy moved over to Killing Joke, and in return Paul Raven left Killing Joke and took over bass duties at Prong.

The present bass player Rob Nicholson has recently gained success with the band Drown, who have just signed to Geffen.

Working the sound board at NYC's legendary club CBGBs in the mid-80's, Tommy Victor was witness to an endless river of live bands. Some went on to make an idelible mark on both underground and mainstream music. The experience left the sound man with a strong sense of what he didn't want his band to do. Victor founded Prong in 1986, and from the outset the band's playing and performing styles defied all the narrowly convenient categories of the day. While the industry tried to fit Prong for a straightjacket, Prong continued to create an uncomprimising music they could call their own.

A core following developed around Prong's first two independent releases, Primitive Origins and Force Fed. Subsequent major label successes brought a growing throng of devotees, ranging from metal fans to techno freaks, Ice-T, Nitzer Ebb, and Pantera could all be found among the faithfull.

1996 has seen the release of their latest album Rude Awakening on Epic. Following a highly successful US tour and some European festival dates the members of Prong are busy with other commitments. Ted is presently limbering up for an American headline tour with Godflesh. Tommy can currently be found on tour with Danzig who is backing up Ozzy on some US dates.

With Southern Records's re-release of the groundbreaking first two independant successes, now is the time to make Prong a part of your life..
