Powderburn is a name that fans in the underground metal scene have come to recognize. This hardcore metal act spawned in October of 1998 from guitarist Josh Klayman, in a small apartment in Austin, Texas. With the combined efforts of drummer Joel Reyes from Austin, guitarist Ken Lockman from New Jersey and bassist Greg Enkler from New York, Powderburn has quickly made an impact on the local music scene, as well as spread their name nationally and internationally via the internet and relentless touring.

Having four dedicated and solid musicians, from four different states, in one band, tends to produce a lot of creative musical ideas. The band prides itself in being able to write heavy songs that appeal to listeners of today's metal scene, without succumbing to the current trend of tuning your guitar to subsonic frequencies, or playing guitar riffs that any novice can figure out. Competing with bands such as Kittie and Sevendust, along with thousands of other unsigned acts on the music website mp3.com, Powderburn has had 5 songs in the top 10 on the metalcore charts. This also includes the 9-month run at #1 with the crowd favorite, "Now You Know". This track also helped Powderburn land their national TV debut on Jimmy and Doug's Farmclub, after only a year and a half of its inception.

When it comes to playing live shows, Powderburn is no stranger to the stage. They live for playing live and nothing else. After just a couple of years, the band has produced over 200 shows to crowds ranging from 3 to 3,000. When they aren't opening for metal acts such as Anthrax, The Misfits, Drowning Pool, Six Feet Under, Skinlab and The Union Underground, among others, Powderburn is headlining its own shows all over the southern states. While the music can certainly speak for itself, the band also incorporates an elaborate stage show that adds to the intensity of their live performance - further setting them apart from their peers. Powderburn knows they are doing something right because fans at each show automatically assume we already have the backing of a major label. This is only a matter of time. Powderburn's trademark is to excite its fans to a new level of insanity with heated riffs and thunderous low ends, that the crowd dives into a world of primal energy following the band's #1 rule, "There are no rules at a Powderburn show."

The band also prides itself in being well rounded in the business aspect of the music industry. Although there's always something new to learn, Powderburn does its best to be as organized as possible for all situations. Since day one, Powderburn has worked very hard to keep a solid relationship with its fans all over the world - which explains why the band's official website receives an average of 2,000 hits per week. The band's fan mailing list also continues to expand impressively each week, and similar success is taking place with the "Burnteam", Powderburn's hardworking street teams.

The band released its debut full length CD in December of 2000, and wants everyone to know that this independent project only marks the beginning of Powderburn's reign. Their music continues to grow and expand on many levels at an alarming rate, and fans are anxiously awaiting what Powderburn has in store for them next.

Powderburn has set its sights high and is striving towards a goal that is not even conceivable to most. It's only a matter of time?
