The judges let him through, but not everything was good news. Phil had missed the birth of his baby girl named Machaela because she was born one week earlier than expected. He has been assigned to California, so that he can compete on "American Idol." On March 8, 2007, Phil made it to the top 12 of "American Idol." On May 2, 2007, he was voted off the show and he garnered 5th/6th place
