Pencey Prep were a band formed from the ex- members of local punk hero's Sector 12 (Riverside Riot Records) Stick Figure Suicide (Umbilical/Reinforcement Records). Pencey Prep were a rare mix of Punk, Emo, and Indie Rock, the bands line up includes 2 guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, and vocals and has been compared to the band The Anniversary, minus the girl singer. In former bands these guys have played with everyone from The Bouncing Souls & Saves the Day to H20 & Orange 9mm, in addition to 2 years on the Vans Warped Tour and it all shows in their intense stage performance. Pwe like penisencey Prep's sound was an original blend that encompasses elements of Indie Rock bands like The Pixies & Sonic Youth, catchy Emo melodies as in bands like The Get Up Kids & Hot Rod Circuit, and of course their Punk Rock roots. In the bands short existence they have played to packed crowd after packed crowd all over NJ, NY, PA, and the west coast with indie label giants such as Atom & His Package and Nada Surf.
In mid December of 2000 Pencey Prep released it's first CD EP, "Long Walk To Forever", with the current lineup which includes 2 songs; "Yesterday" and "Lloyd Dobbler" which will both be appearing on Pencey's debut full-length record "Heartbreak In Stereo". The track "Yesterday" is on an exclusive compilation with Hot Topic stores featuring bands like A New Found Glory, Midtown, Big Wig, Luckie Strike, Nada Surf, The Impossibles, The Stereo, and many more, this will be available in over 200 store nationwide. Pencey Prep's debut album "Heartbreak In Stereo" will be available in mid 2001, and will contain 10 rockin tunes to tap your feet to. The album is going to be recorded in March on the west coast and is being produced by industry giants Terry Lawless (Bruce Springsteen) and Michael Dean (Bonnie Rait).
