Founded in early 1997, The Old Dead Tree is a band standing out of the current European metal scene. Since its creation, the band has developed its own unique style to combine extreme metal, pop music and dark rock. The Old Dead Tree particularly distinguishes itself by the use of exceptional vocals, sliding from one style to another.
The band was first noticed in France by the release of The Blossom. This 4 titles Mini CD has received a very enthusiastic welcome from the press and from the public. It has enabled the band to demonstrate its real talent in many live performances.
In 2002, The Old Dead Tree joined the international record label Season Of Mist and recorded its album The Nameless Disease. Produced by Andy Classen (Rotting Christ, Dew Scented, Krisiun, Tankard, Callenish Circle...) and mastered by Goran Finnberg (In Flames, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Dark Tranquillity...), this album carries a powerful, aggressive and modern sound.
Following the suicide of its previous drummer in 1999, the band attempted to create a concept-album exorcising the loss of a cherished person and all the dark feelings and frustration it does imply.
The Nameless Disease album was officially released on March 17th 2003 in Europe (on April 22nd 2003 in the United States). In order to promote the album, the band will perform several gigs, including Katatonia's tour support on some European shows.
