Nueva Era are a bilingual bachata group of Dominican heritage based in the United States that released a series of albums during the early 2000s before regrouping years later. Founded in 1999, the group is comprised of cousins Eunel Torres (born June 30, 1982, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; raised in New Jersey) and Jahny Jimenez (born on June 24, 1982, in New Jersey), plus Anel Peralta (born on May 24, 1987, in New York, NY). The group made its full-length album debut with Bachateando en NY (2001) -- the only of the group's albums to feature a duo lineup of just the two cousins, Torres and Jimenez -- on Universal Music Latino. Their second album, Amor Eterno (2002) -- their first as a trio -- was more successful, spawning their first chart hit in the title track. Their third album, Make Way (2003), continued their success, spawning two additional chart hits with "We Belong Together" and "Olvidame y Pega la Vuelta." However, their next album, Entrega (2004), didn't hit the charts, marking a sharp downturn in the group's fortunes. Four years passed before Nueva Era regrouped, releasing the comeback album The New Chapter (2008) on the independent label Salvavision Records.
