Nobody'S Angel

Ever since Nobody's Angel first got together, they've found that things have just naturally fallen into place. The Angels were introduced to the world with their appearance last season on the smash ABC comedy "Boy Meets World" and a breakout song on "The Parent Trap" soundtrack ("Let's Get Together"). Now, with their self-titled debut album, Stacey Harper, Sarah Smith, Ali Navarro, and Amy Sue Hardy are prepared to make an impact on the music scene with their effervescent harmonies and funky pop sound. Though the energetic foursome seemed to appear virtually overnight, the early seeds of their success were planted almost two years ago. The first pieces of the puzzle to fit were Stacey and Sarah, who were both scholarship students at Los Angeles's esteemed dance school, The Edge.

The two were natural-born dancers with a passion for singing. Ali, an experienced vocalist and actress, met Sarah at various auditions. And Ali knew Amy Sue, a multi-talented performer, from doing musical theater together. Soon a four-way friendship was born. "We had pizza parties and talked about music, and we all kind of had the same background and liked the same things," recalls Amy Sue.

Marathon hang-out sessions turned to serious discussions about forming a group. Not content to sit around and wait to be discovered, the girls took matters into their own hands, vocalizing constantly and even making up their own dance routines. The toughest part was coming up with a name. Sarah had an idea. "We should do something like Charlie's Angels," she said. Stacey responded jokingly, "Sarah, you are nobody's angel." They didn't have to look any further -- their name was born. It perfectly represented their sassy personalities and shared zest for life. "Everybody was like, 'That's it -- that's what we should be,'" explains Stacey.

On "Nobody's Angel," produced by Andrew Logan and Michael More, the girls strut their stuff with booty-shaking songs like the soulful "If You Wanna Dance" and " Next Stop Heaven," a disco-flavored gem. Nobody's Angel even throws in an updated version of the Sister Sledge feel-good classic "We Are Family [Angel Style],"which features rapping from Sarah and Stacey. "There's a song for every single mood that you're in," Ali advises about the CD.

The album's high-energy groove is complemented by stellar tracks like the acoustic ballad "Keep Me Away," which is Sarah's personal favorite. "The orchestra in the background is beautiful," she says. "I used to play the cello and the viola so I love strings. I love that song -- it's very emotional and it keeps building."

Though Nobody's Angel's hypnotizing harmonies drive the album's 13 tracks, each member's individual talent shines through. Sarah takes the lead on "I Can't Help Myself," the tender song NA performed on "Boy Meets World," and Stacey takes over on "We Are Family."

Amy Sue shines on "Sugar Daddy," while Ali sings her heart out on the wistful ballad "Wishing on You."

One thing that all the members of Nobody's Angel have in common is their passion for spreading joy through their music. "I think it's all about four girls just having fun," says Stacey of their instantly appealing self-titled album. The best part of it is that they're making things happen for themselves. "We're like a family," explains Ali. "It's pretty cool."
