No Use For A Name is a punk band out based of Sunnyvale, CA. Tony Sly and Rory Koff started the band in 1987, and soon picked up Steve Papoutis on bass. The trio released a full length album on New Red Archives in 1990 titled "Incognito". The band picked up Chris Dodge to play rhythm guitar on their next cd, "Don't Miss the Train", which was also released on New Red Archives. After Chris was no longer in the band, No Use picked up Robin Pfefer to play lead guitar on their first record on Fat Wreck Chords, "The Daily Grind", which was released in 1993. Robin didn't last long, but NUFAN found Ed Gregor to play lead on their sophomore release on Fat, titled "eche Con Carne!". Before recording their next album in 1997, "Making Friends", No Use picked up Chris Shiflett to replace Ed Gregor on lead guitar, and Matt Riddle to replace Steve on bass. The line-up of Tony, Chris, Matt, and Rory stayed together to put out NUFAN's newest and greatest record to date, "More Betterness!".

Around the October '99 release of "More Betterness!", Chris left the band and joined the Foo Fighters. No Use was about to kick off a tour when Chris left, so they needed a fast replacement. Dave Nassie, previously from Infectuous Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies, took Chris's spot as lead guitarist and fit in perfectly. NUFAN has toured for over a year in support of "More Betterness!", and are happy with Dave as their guitarist. The band just recorded a live album... look for a possible Spring 2001 release date.
