Najwa Nimri

Najwa Nimri was born in 1972 in Pamplona, Spain, daughter of a Basque mother and a Jordanian father. She is a lifelong resident of Spain. She received her artistic training in the William Layton Theater and in the John Beitia Academy of Dance. Her first role as an actress was in the film "Salto al VacĂ­o" or <Leap Into the Void> (1995), the first film from the director who would become her husband, Basque director Daniel Calparsoro. She played the role of Alex, a shaved-headed rebellious young woman from a marginal, tough background. Since then, she has gone on to many other great roles, including Paisajes (Landscapes), (1996), "A ciegas" (1997) y "Asfalto" (2000 ), all directed by Calparsoro, as well as "Amantes del Circulo Polar <Lovers From The Artic Circle>", "Abre los Ojos <Open Your Eyes>", and a small role in "Before Night Falls <Antes que anochezca>", with Javier Bardem.
