Morifade

Morifade are a Swedish band that deals with epic, symphonic Power Metal with a touch of progressive elements.

The band was formed back in early 1992 (under the name Gothic) in a little Swedish town called Vikingstad by three young guys, the guitarists Jesper Johansson and Fredrik Johansson together with drummer Kim Arnell.

The band was later the same year joined by bass player Henrik Weimedal and the framework of Morifade’s line-up was completed. The only position to be filled was a singer. After a long search and testing of different singers without any good results, Fredrik was able to do it during the time of finding a better vocal replacement.

Playing a lot of cover material from the very beginning, the four members soon began writing their own music. Compared to their music today, at that time it was more Heavy Metal oriented. In late 1995 Morifade recorded their first official demo-tape called "The Hourglass". The demo-tape was self financed and sold very well in the local area. It was sent to magazines and labels around the world but without given the band the record deal they wanted. Later it even reached fans outside Sweden.

In late 1996 Christian Stinga-Borg joined the band as new vocalist and after a local gig Morifade we’re signed to the new started label Loud N’ Proud Records. The MCD "Across The Starlit Sky" was recorded in the end of 1997 and released in early 1998.

Six months after the release Morifade decided to go on without Christian, because the chemistry between him and the rest of the band didn’t work at that moment. After getting a tip from a friend about a singer Christian was replaced by Stefan Petersson and he did his debut at Morifade’s two songs on Loud N’ Proud’s CD compilation "Born to Walk Against The Wind Vol.1". After the compilation Morifade had to go on without Fredrik due to personal issues.

The first full-length Album "Possession of Power" was recorded in different sessions between June and August 1999 and released in November 1999. It gave the band very good reviews from all over the world and Morifade gained a lot of gigs both in Sweden and Europe.

Some months after the release two new members were found to fulfill what the band needed in the future. A keyboard player in Fredrik Eriksson (ex-Tad Morose) and a guitarist named Adrian Kanebäck (ex-Nephenzy).

In the month of May 2000 this line-up entered the Los Angered Studio with owner, engineer and producer Andy La Rocque (wellknown from King Diamond). This time to record some songs for their forthcoming MCD entitled "Cast A Spell" and a cover song for a tribute to Helloween. After the recording several major problems began with their label Loud N’ Proud and the band decided to leave immediately.

Besides the writing of new material for the next full-length album, Morifade was now in search for a new record label to release and promote their music in the future. Promo-CD’s was sent over the world and the band was in contact with many great labels. Finally the band decided to sign with Hammerheart Records in the Netherlands. During this time Adrian left the band in lack of interest and due to personal issues. The band soon found a new member and guitarist in Kim’s younger brother Robin Arnell.

In July 2001 the recording of the second full-length album “Imaginarium” started, again in Los Angered Studio together with producer Andy La Rocque, the recording was finished in August.
