The most successful POPSTARS season ever
In 16 broadcasts over 25 weeks the most suitable and most talented girls of the 5189 applicants have been casted. And, week by week, Germany was glued to the television when the jury members Nina Hagen, Detlef D! Soost and Dieter Falk gave their judgements. For the quite young viewers (14- to 29-year-olds) the POPSTARS were the absolute favourites. Eventually, the heartbeat-finale followed on 23/11/2006: Under the thundering applause from the audience, the jury and the candidates, Bahar (18), Mandy (16) and Senna (26) turned into Monrose.
Shame, Monrose’s first single (published: 01/12/2006), celebrated world premiere – the studio stood on its head.
It was a hard way for Bahar, Mandy and Senna because: “Singing alone is not enough,” said Detlef D! Soost. “As is known, performance and staging are as important parameters as fitness and the ability to work in a team.”
“The girls had to invest a lot and enhance their talent at the highest stage at cyberspeed,” said Nina Hagen. And Dieter Falk adds: “Discipline certainly plays an important role, too, for, in addition to the show and the preparations necessary for it, the candidates recorded a complete album and a video, and they stood in front of the camera for countless interviews and photo productions. That means pacing yourself reasonably.”
Monrose place demands on themselves and their music. Mandy: “I believe devoutly that we can convince everybody with the single and our album of how high the quality of Monrose is. We contemplate a lot and have much to say. After all we are multiculti and that’s fun! We work, we party and we pray together – Monrose are my life now!”
And they all have a sense of mission that is hard to brake: “Freedom of opinion and tolerance towards fellow human beings, that’s the most precious commodity for me,” Senna emphasizes. “I want to stand up for minorities. We all come from different cultures but we grew up here, this is our home, we love Germany,” she says. “With POPSTARS I demonstrated that it is possible to make dreams come true and that’s what I want to get across to the young persons. Believe in yourself, fight.”
