Mondo Marcio

Ever since Mondo was able to put his hands on a keyboard and a computer, he devoted himself to music.

Like most young artists he started recording demos and mixtapes, but unlike the average rapper he always wanted to put his efforts in the production as well.

His first release came at the age of 16 , for an indipendent label, for which he self-produced his first official record, which was called "Mondo Marcio" (2002).

He also produced a Mixtape called "Fuori Di Qua" (2003) for the same indipendent label, making all the beats by himself.

The record and the mixtape were acclaimed by the underground scene and still remembered today as one of the hottest releases of italian Hip-Hop by critics and Mondo's fans, creating a buzz that helped him move to the next step.

His second official release was his first one to hit the mainstream.

He signed with EMI and he self produced his second record, called "Solo Un Uomo" (2006). The record was release in Italy and Switzerland.

The first single , "Dentro Alla Scatola", stayed in the charts at the Top 10 for several months, going straight at n.2, right under Madonna's "Hang Up".

The album sold more than 75.000 units, becoming gold record only after the first two months. The record, being one the faster sellers in the last decade of HH Italian releases, actually originated a whole movement of new rappers and rap albums, creating what could be called one the "golden ages" of Italian Hip-Hop.

Not only Mondo's raps brought him to be one the few big names in the Italian Hip-Hop scene, but especially his beats were acclaimed by fans and critics as a "new sound", mixing classic Hip-Hop rythms with catchier and "Pop/RnB" melodies. What was interesting the public was that this was the first time that a record produced by a 19 year old beat maker/rapper was getting all this attention.

Mondo released a Mixtape for EMI, called "Nessuna Via Di Uscita" (2006), which was included in the gold-version of the record. The mixtape contained many featurings by underground rappers from Los Angeles (Lou Reigns, Spoon, Jemal), and contained the single "L.A. Strippers", a club hit.

After a 4 months business period in New York, spent working with local producers, Mondo went back to Italy to record his latest relase "Generazione X"(2007). The title track has been a massive hit on local and national radio and television, followed by the underground single "Che Senso Ha", which was released to satisfy Mondo's hardcore fans as well.

Mondo released in 2008 a Mixtape, called "In cosa credi". The mixtape contained many featurings by underground rappers from Milano and contained the single "Sopra di noi” that is right now on heavy rotation on Mtv Italy and All Music.
