Proving to everyone that the girls are here to stay 'One Night Stand' is released on the back of their debut single 'Why' - which started life as a huge underground record, reaching No 8 in the national charts. This was closely followed by 'All I Want' which charted at No 2 and propelled them into the national spotlight. ‘One Night Stand’ proved their appeal to mass audiences by garnering another Top 10 UK smash hit (No. 5).
'One Night Stand' sees the girls hooking up with respected producers Stargate who have previously worked with the likes of Nelly, Sisqo and Mary J Blige and Mariah Carey to name a few. Once again Alesha - a much respected MC in her own right on the UK Garage scene – rips it up with her hard hitting lyrics while Sabrina and Su-Elise provide the vocals that fit perfectly with this unique act.
Mis-Teeq are well on their way to becoming the next biggest act in British music to break through from the R'n'B and UK Garage scene since Craig David, already picking up a UK Garage Award for "Best New Act”. The girls were also key performers at this years UK MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin Awards), Televised nationally by Channel 4 in the UK.
As well as winning the UK Garage Award, the girls will also deliver a hugely anticipated live performance which is set to rival that of Destiny's Child at this year's Brits - an act that they have already been compared to by much of the media.
2001 saw the girls wow the crowds at Party In The Park and at the Outkast / Levi's gig in London earlier in the year. Not only are the girls the face for Levi's Red Tab, they've found time in their busy schedules to perform in Ayia Napa, Ibiza and have embarked on their first promotional & showcase trips throughout Europe, Japan and Australia!
Mis-Teeq - being a 'hands on group' co-write all their material and actively get involved in choreography and creative development. 'One Night Stand' is one of those infectious tunes about a good night out with your girlfriends. The album, 'Lickin On Both Sides' was produced alongside a wealth of respected producers and writers such as Sunship, Stargate and Blacksmith. 'They'll Never' is an upbeat garage track featuring Asher D and Harvey from So Solid Crew and is sprinkled with R'n'B for good measure. 'Roll On' is a wicked summer tune, whilst 'That Type Of Girl' and 'Nasty' showcases the girls ability to continually push the UK R'n'B genre forward, with original ideas that hold tight to their underground roots while having a mainstream appeal.
