Mindfeed are: Glynn Morgan - Vocals & Guitar Jase Birnie - Bass Dave Brougham - Drums
Mindfeed formed in 1996, soon after Glynn Morgan (vocals/guitar) and Jay Micciche (Drums), left British Progressive-Metal band Threshold. Both Glynn and Jay had been in Threshold for a number of years, touring with the likes of Conception, Psychotic Waltz and Dream Theater. But as time went on, they found it increasingly more difficult to believe in the band. Glynn's song writing skills were sadly not appreciated, by the rest of the band, and Glynn felt it was time to move on and do what he wanted to do, without being held back. Jay decided to go with him, and a few months later Mindfeed was born.
Glynn set about working on new material, and soon had a good selection of tracks for an album. All that was needed now was a bassist and a record deal! John Jowitt (IQ, Arena) filled the bassist position, although Jase Birnie, replaced him during the recording, and the record deal soon followed. Inside Out Records, Threshold's German label, took an interest, and the deal was thrashed out. Next stop the studio...
After the Perfect Life? album was finished, the band took a well-earned break. In the summer of 1997, they started writing material for their next album. After about six months, they were ready to head back into the studio. Andy Sneap was once again drafted in to handle the recording process, but due to him having so much work, the band had to wait until February 98 for Andy to have the time to work with them. So once again Mindfeed headed for Derbyshire and Backstage Studio's...
Two weeks after Ten Miles High was recorded, the band set out on their first ever European Tour. The tour, supporting Skyclad, took them to Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France. This was the first real test for the band on the live front, and the response was fantastic! They went down a storm every night. Skyclad's Steve Ramsey performed the second guitar duties.
The Ten Miles High album was released in April 98. The reaction from the European metal press was very good. With "Record of the Month" reviews in Italy and Germany, and excellent reviews in other countries, the band were looking forward to a great year ahead. Then at the end of July, drummer Jay Micciche left the band. The working relationship with Jay, had been deteriorating since the recording of Ten Miles High, and it was decided that the best thing for everyone was if Jay left the band. After a frantic search for a new drummer, former Saxon man, Dave Brougham was drafted in for the bands upcoming tour.
In October 98, Mindfeed hit the road again, this time with American band Symphony X. This tour was even more successful than the last, with phenomenal responses from the audiences, especially in Italy and France. A new guitarist was found, for the tour, in the form of John Slater.
Mindfeed returned to England and started working on material for their third album. The band hope to record this latest offering at the end of 1999. With festival dates in the summer, and a full European tour planned to coincide with the release of the new album, 1999 looks set to be a great year for Mindfeed!
