Mike Tramp was born in Denmark 14/01/61, learned how to hold a guitar at the age of 13 at his local youth-club in Copenhagen and starred in a singing part as Romeo in a musical show at same club.
He was living in the same house as a crazy fanzine editor - it was at the time, when teenage idols couldn’t get young enough and unsatisfied with the photographs of real teen idols from the press agencies, he started to take local boys about Mike’s age into the studio, presenting them in the magazines as real teen idols - and as Mike was the best looking and had the greatest talent for posing in front of a camera - he became the #1 nobody - and the #1 somebody, when he at the age of 15 was picked as the lead singer by a band called Mabel, who had their original singer stolen away in the middle of the night by Bay City Rollers manager, Tam Paton. Actually Mabel wanted Mike’s little brother, Dennis, but as Mike at the time really had his head set on becoming a rock singer and Dennis more had his set on becoming a football maniac, it was Mike who got his high heeled Kiss boot in!
Mabel won the Danish Eurovision Song Contest in 1978, where they were spotted especially in Spain, whereto they moved for a few years in the beginning of 1980. A couple of years later they moved to New York for a few months. The band fired Mike and moved back to Denmark and was never heard of again.
Mike stayed, started his fight to survive and got together a band, which he named White Lion after the image, he got, when he looked into a mirror. They had great difficulties in getting a record deal, but on money borrowed from friends, they recorded their first album, Fight To Survive, in Frankfurt, Germany. The record got cult status in especially Great Britain, but it was first with their next album, Pride, released 1987, that they started to hit the big time in America, something like 8 in the LP and 20 in the single charts. The single "When The Children Cry" hit # 2 on Billboard.
A couple of times, Mike was voted the best rock singer in the city, that never sleeps.
White Lion went bankrupt and had to stop playing for financial reasons (a rock band is actually as any other business) - and today Mike is “solo”, still with a band of course - what the difference is, you have to be a business man to understand. Note: what you just read, you won’t read anywhere else - Mike won’t bother the public with business talk. Mike is the born stage front man with his urge to please and extremely good looks. He’s got a heart the size of Monica Lewinsky’s ass, which comes across in his lyrics. He got himself a son in 1994, named Dylan, not after Bob, but after Mike’s favorite TV-show! He now calls Hobart, Tasmania (of all places!) home - but who cares - he’s never home and more likely to suddenly come rollerskating down your street.
