Melanie Thornton - an American dream comes true!
Born in the month of May, it was evident to all that Melanie Thornton was destined to sing . At the age of 11 she began private singing lessons which she continued through college where talent shows and concerts with cover bands helped to finance her room and board.
It was the beginning of the 90’s that brought Melanie to the decision of making music not only the center of her soul, but also an occupational pursuit. On February 14, 1992 she packed up her dreams, all her confidence - and her last $15 and ventured to Germany.
Already on the second evening in the new home, Melanie took the stage of Munich’s Nacht Café to an all time high where the crowd roared with excitement at her performance. The path to success had begun.
With her partner Lane McCray, Melanie Thornton celebrated world-wide successes as La Bouche. Selling more than 10 million units as well as achieving gold & platinum awards in over 15 countries crowned the cooperation of the famous duo.
Melanie Thornton died in a plane crash on November 24, 2001.
This was just 2 days before her new single and album was going to be released.
On November 24 she performed in Leipzig and then she drove to Berlin where she took the plane to Zürich.
"I know we don't have any guarantee that we're gonna live tomorrow. That's why I live everyday as it was my last.", she said in on of her last interviews.
