Maroon

MAROON’s sound offers not only a heavyweight mix of brutal hardcore infused with metal-riffs, but also displays the band’s political awareness and involvement in an alternative life-style. Nordhausen, Germany’s vegan straight edge five-piece formed in early 1998 with heavy influences from new school as well as straight edge bands like Earth Crisis, Morning Again and Despair, and combined these influences with their love for metal acts such as At The Gates, The Haunted, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, Dismember or Unleashed. After recording their first MCD, “Captive In The Room Of The Conspirator”, at Berlin’s Headquarter Studios in spring 2000 the band became an active European touring entity, sharing the stage with their idols, bands like Earth Crisis and Morning Again. During the winter of the same year they entered 101 Studios in Berlin to record “The Key”, MAROON’s split-CD with Self Conquest. Again the band returned to the road playing live throughout Europe with the likes of Heaven Shall Burn, Caliban and Madball.

Finally, in November 2001 they attacked the recording of their full-length debut-album, “Antagonist”, at Triptis’ Rape Of Harmonies Studios (Fall Of Serenity, Heaven Shall Burn) with producers Patrick W. Engel and Ralf Müller. The album (featuring songs like “Shadow Of The Vengeance” and straight edge hymn “Still Believe In What Has Fallen Apart”) was released via U.S. straight edge label Catalyst Records (home of Day Of Suffering, Point Of No Return) and soon became one of the label’s fastest and best selling records. The release was followed-up by a European headlining tour. After some line-up changes and a successful South American tour in spring 2003 MAROON switched from Catalyst to German based Alveran Records (Evergreen Terrace, Settle The Score and European outlet of Eulogy Records, former home of Unearth), and their new partner in crime re-released “Antagonist”. In February 2004 the band headed north to Denmark’s Antfarm Studio to record their current album, “Endorsed By Hate”, with renowned producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Mnemic). Soon after the recording, long-time guitarist Marc Zech left the band and was replaced by Sebastian Rieche. MAROON’s CD release show was held in a 100+ year old salt-mine with Hatesquad, and kicked off the start of a series of 60 shows between June and December 2004.

Additionally the band performed at major European festivals like With Full Force and Pressure Fest, and individual shows with Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Sworn Enemy and Heaven Shall Burn. Their reputation as an energetic and entertaining live-band spread like wildfire, and in October the band inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. In early 2005 Century Media/Abacus Records will release MAROON’s acclaimed album “Endorsed By Hate” in North America with new artwork and two enhanced live-clips from this year’s With Full Force Festival (“Shadow Of The Vengeance”, “Still Believe In What Has Fallen Apart”). Alveran Records will re-launch the album in Europe (including the enhancements) through their freshly inked P&D deal with Century Media Records. Its re-release is right in time for the band’s European Triumph Of Hate Tour with Switzerland’s Cataract. Be sure not to miss one of Europe’s most invigorating live-bands.
