Mark King, outstanding bass player and lead singer for Level 42 was born in Cowes, England on October 20, 1958. Mark King had been a drummer, but upon the formation of level 42, which he co-founded in 1980, he began playing bass. Mark King developed a unique and extraordinary thumb-slapping technique which became an integral element of the group's sound. In 1984, he recorded his debut solo album, Ifluences. In 1994, Level 42 disbanded. Four years later Mark King's second album, One Man was released. Soon Mark King released his third solo album, Trash, a collection of demos, sold via his website. In December of 2001, Mark King acquired the rights to the level 42 name and is touring once again as level 42.
