Marianne James

Marianne James was born on February 18, 1962 in Montélimar, France. When she was young, she wanted to be a nun, a sportswoman or a biologist. But in her teens, she started playing guitar and played in a band with Michel Petrucciani. She also started singing in churches. At 18, she moved to Paris and studied musicology in La Sorbonne. In 1981, she was a member of Démones Loulous. In 1987, Marianne and her friend Hélène Halevi created the show Ultima Récital, met Véronique Vola and in 1989, Marianne played the lead role of the show, the diva Ulrika Von Glotte. The show was an opera rock, melting German classical music and modern music. In 1999, Marianne received a Molière for "Best Musical Show". It was also the end of Ultima Récital. In 2004, Marianne became a member of Nouvelle Star jury with André Manoukian, Manu Katché & Dove Attia. Her first solo album, Marianne James, was released on October 2, 2006.
