Luciferion

The band was founded in early 93 by Michael Nicklasson-guitar, Peter Weiner-drums and Wojtek Lisicki-guitar and vocals. Shortly after the bass player Martin Furängen joined the formation.

Risen as a controversial result of life's misery and the abundance of metal-will, but also on account of the influence and inspiration from the old master bands: Morbid Angel, Deicide, Celtic Frost, Forbidden, Coroner, Immolation… and the great heavy-metal divinities from the 80's.

In the middle of 93, LUCIFERION entered a studio (Starec - Växjö/Sweden) for the very first time and recorded an unofficial five song promo. After the mix done in 94 the promo was sent to Listenable Records in France and was the only one tape ever sent to a record company.

The material resulted in a immediate deal with the label.

That promo was now released via Listenable Records under the tile "The Demon Of 1994" as a promotional material to introduce the band's music and name to the world.

After that long awaited, but obvious step, in February 94 LUCIFERION enters the gates of Studio Fredman in Gothenburg (Sweden) and after manifold brakes and delays the recording and mixing of the "in pain and misery born"-album "Demonication (The Manifest)" is finished. A blasphemous creation of power saw the dark of the night.

That was one of the very first recordings in this nowadays famous studio of Fredrik Nordström.

The album also featured a hateful rendition of the definite black/death metal anthem “Blasphemer” of SODOM, which sounded even more twisted than the original version.

After the session, the drummer Peter Weiner left the band and returned to his previous band SARCAZM. He was replaced by Hans Nilsson, the former drummer of the insane act LIERS IN WAIT.

Also, an other musician joined the band. Johan Lund, originally responsible for the technical part behind synthesizers on the album, now became the live keyboard player of the band.

After releasing the album the band did a lot of gigs and gave performances on festivals around the Europe headlining some of them, something that was quite surprising bearing the fact in mind that the band released their very first album recently. Apparently, the power of it was greater than the market’s rules.

Like wildfire the reviews started to appear in all parts of the world.

(...)

Then in the end of 1996 the band suddenly shut down. It simply faded away because of lack of structure and motivation.

Subsequently, the members gathered only to record tribute songs for several compilations.

During the band’s lengthy break most of the members became highly active in some well know Gothenburg acts. Michael Nicklasson joined DARK TRANQUILLITY and Wojtek Lisicki together with Martin Furängen revived their old true-metal act HIGHLANDER, these days know as LOST HORIZON. Hans Nilsson joined CRYSTAL AGE to later became a member of several other bands: DIABOLIQUE, DIMENSION ZERO, THE GREAT DECEIVER…

In 2000 the contact with Listenable Records was restored. The idea was to release an album consisting of the old promo-demo “The Demon Of 1994” and the unreleased Celtic Frost cover “The Circle Of The Tyrants” recorded in 96, as a “collector’s item” for the die hard fans.

That idea grew into what can be seen today... The hunger and yearning for creating new compositions was overwhelming. As there existed some older material in form of sporadic pieces, the band realised that this could be a perfect opportunity to build a bridge between what once was and what would come by combining and amalgamating the old unused parts, together with totally new arrangements.

The result of this collage became three new compositions and one old in its original form, just perfected.
