Lovher

Girl groups: quartets, trios, duos. Some are fleeting. Some are unforgettable. A select few are in it because of what's in their hearts, period. Witness Def Soul's R&B quartet Lovher, a group of four such soul-stirring songstresses, "We're doing this because of our passion," affirms Serenade, the baby of the bunch, which also includes Chinky, Kenji and Buttah, "We've been waiting for this moment since we were kids." On their decidedly intimate album, the ladies of Lovher bless listeners with infectious and intelligent cuts about the peaks and valleys of love and relationships. Though it's obvious that the ladies of Lovher represent a unified front, it was important to them, and to Def Soul, that they were able to express their individuality. And what's the message that this stunning and talented new crew of vocalists will deliver to music fans on their debut, To Know Her Is To LovHer, due May 21? "Most importantly," says Chinky, "that we can get along, stay together, and make it happen."

LovHer, the first girl group on Def Soul Records will release their debut album, "LovHer" on May 21. The ladies of LovHer share the unique one-name thing with the man who brought them together: Def Soul label mate Sisqo. Baltimore native Chinky met the Dragon during his pre-Dru Hill days in high school, and when he wanted to create a female version of his multi-platinum R&B quartet, he went to her. The other three girls Serenade, Kenji and Buttah knew people who knew the right people, the foursome clicked and the rest is history. With production from hitmakers like Warryn Campbell (Mary Mary), Harold Billy (Angie Stone), Damon Elliott (Mya, Pink) and the group's founder Sisqo (of Dru Hill) these confident chanteuses bare their souls and pour their hearts into each perfectly pitched note. The first single from the album is titled "How's It Gonna To Be" and the group is currently in LA shooting the video.

To know her is to Lovher...

That's the motto of Lovher, a new female R&B quartet founded, named and produced by hip-hop star Sisqo. The girls -- Kenji, Serenade, Chinky and Buttah -- are getting mad-airplay with their hot single "How It's Going To Be" from their forthcoming self-titled album dropping on May 23.

So what is Lovher all about anyway? Sisqo came up with the group's name, but the girls, who've been together for three years, have put their own spin on the meaning. "For us, Lovher means just loving yourself and in return other people will love you," says Kenji.
