Lefty

Out of the ashes (literally) of Sativa Cross comes LEFTY - a 6 piece hip-core carnival of sonic indulgence lighting up the Jersey scene!! Originally formed in the summer of 97 by Sativa members -Joey Crap, Roy Dey and Evil Ed with local legend Kevin Norton on the throne, LEFTY packed the bowl with industrial metal, funk, hip-hop, samples, keys, turntables, electric noise, bleeding ulcers, rap, jazz ... you get the point. The bowl is packed and it kicks!! In Dec. 97 Joey dedicated himself to vocals while another x-Sativist John Jones took over bass duties. By the end of 98 Joey had left the band.

After months of auditions and turmoil, in stumbled Jay and his partner in crime Jerry. Jerry was just along for the ride, so he thought - what a ride its been. Jay's raw abrasive aggressiveness and Jerry's smooth groove laid a solid new foundation, a distinct sound that broke new ground and secured Lefty's position away from the 'Rage Against the Kid Beastie Bizkit' clones.

After a few months of reformatting old songs and writing a $#!+load of new material Lefty hit the studio to record a four song demo. Partially produced by jazz phenomenon Ed Hamilton, the cd immediately began receiving positive attention. Taking advantage of heavy college radio rotation, the band is concentrating on live shows, both headlining & opening for national acts. With a dedicated following and a growing reputation for their on-stage and back-stage antics, Lefty often finds themselves out drawing the headliners. With favorable reviews both live & cd, both print & web-based and solid promoter support, Lefty emerges from the smoke ready to hit it hard in Y2K!
