Laurent Voulzy

Laurent Voulzy (real name Lucien Voulzy) was born on December 18, 1948 in Paris, France. His parents were Guadeloupean. A music fan, he founded his first band & played drums at 14. He discovered The Beatles & performed his first songs in small halls. In 1967, he won his first song contest with "Timide" & signed to a record company in the early 70's. From 1972 to 1976, he released singles, all unsuccessful. In 1974, he met Alain Souchon who became his best friend. Together, they produced Alain's first album in 1974 & Laurent's first hit "Rockcollection" in 1977, a success in France. A slow artist, Laurent released his first album 2 years later, Coeur Grenadine. Success came quickly, on top, Voulzy was launched with a simple making : easy melodies & perfect arrangements. "Karin Redinger", "Bopper En Larmes" & "Belle-Île En Mer" became hits. His albums were rare but they went successful (Avril in 2001) & far from media, Laurent is a nice man, loved by his audience.
