Kyo is a French rock band with 4 members : Benoît Poher (vocals, born on June 27, 1979 in Paris), Florian Dubos (guitar and backing vocals, born on March 26, 1980 in Versailles), Fabien Dubos (drums, born on June 3, 1978 in Versailles) & Nicolas Chassagne (guitar and backing vocals, born on December 24, 1979 in Paris). They met in secondary school in 1993 and founded a band. Their name, Kyo, found in manga, means "capital" and also "universal sound that leads activities of life" in Japanese. They started covering songs of their favourite bands : Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Soundgarden... In 2000, Kyo signed to Jive and released their debut album, which was not successful. They continued playing before artists (Pascal Obispo & Indochine). In 2002, they released their second album Le Chemin and the title-song, a duet with Dutch singer Sita, was their first success. In 2004, they received 4 NRJ Music Awards and 3 Victoires de la Musique, wrote "Le Souvenir De Ce Jour" for Jenifer and released their third album 300 Lésions, with strong lyrics. In 2006, they wrote a song for the association Fight Aids Monaco, "L'Or De Nos Vies".
