Kollide

Kollide is a five-piece Filipino band. Playing light alternative music, their target is to make long-term songs. Keeping the members together is quite a task however their schedules collided so as to name the band, Kollide.

Kollide is composed of five, musically-talented individuals. Carlo Aquino headed the vocals of the band. Aldwin deals on drums, Aldo on bass, Edward on guitars and Wai on keyboards. They prefer to keep their surnames to themselves.

Well, who in the Philippines does not know Carlo Aquino? He is regarded as a brilliant young actor by the local critics. He can be seen performing in the big screen together with showbiz heavyweights as Vilma Santos.

Unknown to many, Aquino spends most of his spare time playing Counterstrike in his own private world. Through this, he was able to establish close friendships with some non-showbiz youngsters. Until such then, they realized that they have something in common: playing electronic games and creating music. So, they agreed to form a band and explore further possibilities. Thanks to Counterstrike.

The band started from scratches like doing session works and singing as back-up of Carlo Aquino. The band had played a great deal, having performed in front of hundreds of audiences in numerous gigs. But like any other promising bands, they are bound finally of breaking free from their past.

Prior to their album, the band had to undergo first some briefing of what professional recording is which is totally different from that of spreading out music in public. This experience honed their sound into more pleasant and instrument-blended.

Kollide would probably gone indie when the project from Viva Records arrived. They are now being groomed as one of the main attractions with the release of their debut album.

The self-titled album was set to public on 2007, boasting with 12 originally composed tracks. The album’s carrier single is “Alaala” which was co-written by Aldwin. With its catchy opening and easy progression, no wonder, the song would be the next jukebox hit and would stay longer in the airwaves.

But one thing remains for sure for these brilliant songwriters that all their songs are collections of human experiences such as love, separation, anger and many other emotions we encounter in our everyday living. Surely, people can relate their experiences to their creative compositions.

Kollide is a band with a plan. They use their music to tell stories to anyone who can relate and capture their hearts and minds as many as possible. With their strategy, you might also fell crazy like any other.
