Debbi is originally from L.A., and Siobhan is from Liverpool. The story of Kindred Spirit begins back in '89, when they first met in an Indian restaurant, and both ordered the same food. Around this time Siobhan borrowed Debbi's drum kit (during the Bangles 'Everything Everywhere' tour,) for the recording of the first River City People album. (Which is an excellent album!) They didn't see each other again until Debbi, looking for someone to work with sent Siobhan a tape of some of the songs she was working on. This was just after the River City People had split; Siobhan loved what she heard, and soon after, Kindred Spirit began.
They produced two singles in the UK, and an album. Their first single 'Here In My Eyes' is available on CD, with three other tracks, two of which are non-album. Their second single is available on 7" and CD and is entitled 'Ask Me No Questions' There are three non-album songs on the CD. One of these songs entitled; 'Poppies In A Field Of Corn', was originally the B side to the River City People single 'What's Wrong With Dreaming', released in 1990. The song was written by Siobhan and David Snell.
Gina Shock, from the Go-Go's was involved in Kindred Spirit in the early days of the band, but dropped out of the project. One of the songs which Debbi and Gina wrote; 'Here In My Eyes', is on the album. At the time there was talk of Gina filing a law suit. Some details on this can found at the GoGos site Disgraceland.
They wrote all the tracks on their album, also doing backing vocals (they are the Harmony Pigs) and producing it. Debbi and Siobhan also wrote and performed 'Christmas Son' which can be found on the IRS compilation album; 'Mother And Child'. The inner sleeve of the album includes a picture of Siobhan and her baby. Kindred Spirit are apparntly looking for a new label and writing new material. This band have a great sound and they work very well together.
Lets hope we hear much more from them in the future.
