The Killjoys first arrived on radio with the single "Fall Around Me" topping the indie charts in February 1990. Their debut album "Ruby" soon followed winning an ARIA award for best independent album the following year. Ruby was acclaimed for it's strong melodies and distinctive instrumentation, coloured by jazz vibraphone, acoustic guitar, trumpet and strings all creating the perfect atmosphere for the floating vocals of Anna Burley.

"This is pop music at it's very best, invigorating, full of the possibilities of life good and bad.....Ruby it is called, and a shining gem it is" Craig Mathieson. Beat 1990

Ruby put The Killjoys at the forefront of the indie pop scene where they remain. Their success soon took them overseas, their second album "A Million Suns" was recorded in England with producer Craig Leon and released to great reviews and extensive airplay.

"Their trump card is Anna Burley's voice, to these ears she is a better singer than either Bjork or Eddie Reader" The Word - Ireland 1993

"intoxicating sounds.... Sun drenched tales of- poignant love... truly scrumptious" Melody Maker UK 1994

The band relocated to England and toured extensively for the next few years supporting the likes of THE STRANGLERS and MARTIN STEPHENSON as well as their own shows, and managing to release a couple of EPs.

"They open their mouths to sing and I'm a pitiful heap on the floor after one song" HOT` PRESS DUBLIN 1994

On returning to Australia The Killjoys built their own recording studio and recorded their best work so far "Sun Bright Deep".

This new album was a development in The Killjoys sound while retaining all the much loved elements of their style. The rich melodies, lush strings, the return of Vibes player Caroline Schwerkolt, and Anna Burley's soaring vocals are all given a new depth with the distinctive electric guitar style of Gary Aspinall and diverse musical arrangements using everything from samplers to a 19th century Harmonium. "Sun Bright Deep" was nominated for an ARIA at the last awards and garnered much critical acclaim
